Somatic Myofascial Release Training
Somaroll
Where Myo-fascial therapy meets somatic wisdom
On-Demand Training
Welcome to SomaRoll, Somatic Myofascial Release Training.
The SomaRoll Yoga Method is an integrative, embodiment practice. It combines Myofascial Release Therapy and gentle mobility-inspired yoga. .Myofascial Release Therapy is not like the ordinary myofascial release that you see at the gym. We use tools and techniques that are suitable for inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, bursitis, sacroiliitis, fasciitis and other inflammatory conditions to help reduce inflammation. The method also works on re-setting the auto-pilot nervous system response in relation to how stress and trauma express themselves in your somatic body, through the waves, arches and domes that create stability through the fascial system.
The mobility-yoga exercises work on stabilising the joints and neutralising muscle imbalances relating to bad posture, excess sitting, repetitive stress etc. Muscle imbalances can also lead to other more serious issues such as bursitis, nerve impingement and sciatica to name but a few
This holistic approach is designed to facilitate the re-education of the neuromuscular system functionally and somatically. From a functional perspective, Somaroll employs myofascial release techniques to target the myofascia in relation to repetitive stress, postural dysfunctions and injuries and uses FRC-based mobility to stabilise the joints. Somatically, it aims to re-educate the neuromuscular system in relation to the imprint of negative emotions held in the physical body and reset the nervous system from negative emotional states and the fight-flight response. It seeks to promote somatic experiences of embodied well-being by incorporating modern somatic methodologies such as the teachings of Thomas Hanna, Polyvagal theory, the Feldenkrais method, and Somatic Experiencing.
