Teachers

Hello! My name is Carol Murphy and I am a yoga teacher that has explored and taught many aspects of Yoga for over 27 years (more than half my life).
. After 10 years of teaching Iyengar and Ashtanga classes as my full-time profession, I started Green Lotus Yoga teacher training school (2006) and have been training yoga teachers from Ireland and internationally ever since.
I have trained over 1000 teachers on my Progressive Vinyasa 200 hr Training, which was my first offering. This training is still running annually and gets better every year! My love for Vinyasa has never wavered and I feel inspired to teach this creative, holistic and spiritual, ever-evolving practice.
In 2017, I trained as a neuromuscular therapist. During this training, I learned a lot about fascia, the nervous system, and general anatomy. I do offer a limited amount of NMT sessions in my studio but am more connected with the work intellectually and creatively in relation to adapting the NMT teaching for Functional Yoga Therapy and general Yoga Anatomy for my trainings. I wrote 2 yoga manuals and the second one Align, is largely sitting on the shoulders of the biotensegrity anatomy that I learned at this time of my life.
In 2018 I created a 300 hr Yoga therapeutic Yoga Training and have been teaching it annually ever since. Even though my heart is still very connected to Vinyasa, I love to explore and teach Yoga Therapy. In 2022, I went back to school to do an IAYT 800 hr Yoga Therapy Training with Soul of Yoga in the U.S. This allowed me to deepen my knowledge of Ayurveda and explore Yoga for Mental Health which has been a new exploration for me (despite my studies of the sutras, yoga philosophy, and 1 year of psychology in Uni).
Additionally, I have studied Yin Yoga with Josh Summers (and led trainings with Josh), Ayurveda, Tantra, and Kundalini Trance Dance.
Before the Pandemic, I traveled a lot with my work, teaching, and training teachers in London, California, India, South Africa, Morocco, and Spain. Since lockdowns, I have finally rooted with my husband and 6 furries in the Burren National Park, and am now happy to travel less and teach from my studio and online more.
