In Ayurveda, Menopause is called Rajonivritti. “Raja” relates to Rajas (movement, yang and also blood). “Nivritti” means completion. Ayurveda recognised menopause as a time of accomplishment and celebration; it is not a disease. Learning to understand symptoms and build resources is essential to moving into this stage of life with ease and harmony.
Women’s reproductive stage of is known as Rajaswala Avastha in Ayurveda. TCM and Ayurveda offer deep insight into how to tackle hormonal balance through diet and practices. Educating yourself in the cycle and learning tools to nourish you during this time, can help to create a healthier mental attitude towards your cycle. This is essential for fostering a calm, confident mind throughout the bleed, helping to subdue anxiety, which can in turn reduce HPO (hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian) stress.
